Frosted SnowFlakes

Snowflake cupcakes made for Will (my son) to take to school tomorrow for his teacher's. They are my usual Vanilla cupcakes with a generous helping
of mildly flavoured RoseWater buttercream with a splodge of cream added....yum!
covered in a blanket of fondant sprayed with blue lustre on the one side and pearl lustre sprayed over top
(not that the photo shows this very well)
these were then decorated with various sized snowflakes
and a single edible pearl.

March Of The Penguin Cupcakes

30 Penguins (all handmade from fondant) toppers for cupcakes
made for my son's Classroom Christmas Party
to share out around all his classmates.
Pretty time consuming but worth it as the children and mothers
seemed to like them.

Snow Cookies

I made these cookies
and decorated them simular to the Snowflake Christmas Cake (see below)
Snowflakes made using the patchwork cutters.
The cookies are butter crunch cookies, covered in a circle of white fondant
and decorated with snowflakes and royal icing beads of snow.

Christmas is Coming!

I have been thinking of Christmas Cake designs
as the festive period is just around the corner,
& this is totally inspired from a
3 tiered snowflake cake by Lindy Smith
out of her book "To Inspire & Desire"
The Snowflakes are made out of fondant using patchwork cutters, and I
have got to say, they are not that easy to use!!!!
but I do like the result!

just for fun, and this is what I came up with.
I actually like how this looks.

Paisley Passion

I was inspired by all the paisley patterns out at the moment
so this is my take on it, in cupcake style.
I am very pleased with the outcome.
Again a regular sponge cupcake (muffin size) with buttercream, covered in a paisley shaped blanket of fondant, which I then marked and painted & dusted with silver.
The decorations are embossed and dusted with silver paisley shapes and flowers
all of which are edable.
This has got to be my favourite cupcake, I just love the look of it so much!

Romance

A sponge cupcake (muffin size) with buttercream and covered with a blanket of fondant
It has then been decorated with a single bloom and
a pair of embossed Hearts.
Dusted with silver.

Whimsical Midnight Bloom

OK! last night I was thinking about Halloween, and wanted to do some cupcakes but without the usual pumpkins, bats, etc....... and wanted it to have a feminine floral touch, so I came up with this, not spooky or anything but I do like the whimsical look and I love the colours. but I will be using different cases, if I could find a matt silver that would be perfect, so if anyone finds some PLEASE!! let me know!
This is just a regular Vanilla, muffin sized cupcake with buttercream and a blanket of fondant dusted with Silver & Rimini Blue lustre, decorated in the usual blossom and Whimsical leaves and balls, all covered in the lustre.

Inspiration in Ruby & Cream

I named this cupcake Inspiration because I was inspired
by a good friend, Bev (SugarBloom Cupcakes)
if you haven't seen her work I advise you to go and check her Blog
you will find her link in My Favourites.
I took the design from my last cupcake (the green & purple one)
as I loved the embossing so much I copied it
and put it on this cupcake.

Green & Purple Embossed Cupcake

Just some cupcakes I have made to practice some new embossing mats out on. I love this one so feminine. I have painted the embossing a different shade to highlight it and also added some fondant flowers, where the embossed flower should be, so it looks like they are popping out! Then sprayed the whole cupcake with lustre.

Cupcake Wrappers

Butterflies & Stripes Flowers & Swirls Hearts An Assortment
This is an assortment of cupcake wrappers handmade by me.
I love the American laser cut ones and now we are able to purchase them over here in the UK,
but they are so expensive.
This is a cheaper alternative, although quite time consuming,
I think they are pretty charming.
Will definitely be making some more,
a good excuse to buy some more of that gorgeous card.

Decorated Butterfly Cookies

My first fondant covered Cookies. I got the idea for the butterflies from http://www.cakejournal.com/
I enjoyed making these, and my son enjoyed eating them.......but NOT the pink ones, they're for girls! hahaha!!!!
I opted for a cookie that wasn't too sweet in taste, as it has quite a bit of fondant on it!
All in all, I am pretty happy with the outcome of these!
Definitely will be doing more cookies in the future!

Sacher Torte

A Sacher Torte Dessert Cake, so rich and chocolatey it tastes devine. Lovely by it's self or served with Creme Fraiche or Cream.
I actually made this one for my Huband and me, as it was our Wedding Anniversary and we both love it so much. The Chocolate Glaze over top is so thick and gorgeous.
I have decorated this with pastel coloured fondant flowers, scrolls, butterfly and dragees.
If you like chocolate you'll love this!

3D Tooth Cake

This cake stood about 8 1/2 inches high and was 6 1/2 inches across.
It is all cake from top to bottom, which is a vanilla sponge with buttercream filling and covered with white fondant sprayed with a Pearl Lustre to give it a beautiful sheen!
This was the most stressful cake I have made to date! but I am happy with the result.

Combat Boobs Cake

A cake I made for a friend who is leaving the army. Apparently I said that I would make him one of these, but I don't even remember the conversation???........mind you I had, had quite a bit to drink at the time Hahahaha!!!!!!.....works do's, you know what there like!
Anyway, I am pleased with the outcome of this cake, and hopefully he will like it too!

25 Jul 2008

Swirls

A couple of cupcakes left over from the combat cakes (see below), so with the spare buttercream which was also left over from the combat cakes I decided to use it to make some quick pretties for my son and me to eat up!....................Yum!! I just love that green colour!

Combat Cakes

My husband wanted me to make some cakes for work to welcome the new C.O. (Commanding Officer) to the unit. I was told "NOTHING WITH FLOWERS" ....tut! men, hey! So we came up with this! you can probably tell from the design he is in the Army.
The little boots that I made here were inspired from another flickr friend "Zalita" who kindly let me use her idea. I had intended to make more of these, but they were too time consuming!!!!.............. but I think one set is enough! The camouflage fondant took quite some time to make too, but the whole effect turned out great!

Rose Cuppies for the Teachers

Made for my son's Teachers & TA's to say thank you and goodbye on the last day of term.

Laptop Cake

This is probably my favourite cake to date!
It was made for an 18th party, I wasn't sure how to make the screen, as this didn't have to be edible, but thanks to some of my Flickr friends (Egg Yol! & CakesByShara) they helped me out.
The cake it's self was (bottom layer) chocolate sheet cake covered with blue fondant, next layer (laptop part) was chocolate sheet cake covered with fondant and painted silver and then just decorated with the keyboard (which the keys were all cut out and painted separately) and things...such as mouse, cables, buttons, etc........... the ipod was a last minute addition, as I accidentally dented the front of the blue cake and needed something to conceal it (this was hidden by the earphones).
All in all, I was very, very pleased with the look of this cake.

Power Ranger Overdrive

I love, love, loved making this cake! This was for my son's 5th birthday (party) who told me he wanted a power ranger cake! I have shown you this in stages, as it was quite a big cake! The first picture shows the cake sandwiched together and shaped like a helmet. The second has been covered in a thin layer of buttercream and put aside to dry for a while. Third photo shows the cake covered in blue fondant and smoothed to give it that helmet look, and again left to dry. And finally, the finished Power Ranger! Everything edible, all except for the candles! The words from my son were.......Mummy, I love my Power Ranger Head!!!...................haha!! bless!.........And then we cut the Power Ranger's head open...WHAAAHAHAHAHAA!!!
